What else can be said about the USFSPA that others haven't already said???

The USFSPA protects the former spouse and screws the servicemember. With the divorce rate in military families being about 50%, how much more of this will the men and women who have served have to endure? Our entire governmental body wants NOTHING to do with the legislation. Our elected officials are leaving our military retirees out to dry! What about getting a law in place that makes sense? What about NOT alienating those that serve for a change? The legislation had a need when it was created, but the authors of this law obviously had no clue! I would hazard a bet that IF our Congress members, the Senate or any other person of authority had their retirement check garnished "FOR LIFE", had their former spouse getting half or more of their retirement pay, or even having to pay a former spouse before they retired...FROM THEIR OWN POCKET, they would have a different view and the law would be rescinded, or there would be one in place that made sense! Why is this such a hotbed for anyone to approach and say "ENOUGH." Why aren't new service members given fair warning and told about this law prior to enlistment, marriage, etc.??? Please, please, please....protect our troops and get a law in place that will be beneficial to all!!! Write to your elected reps and say,"If you want my vote, please recall this act of terror on our retired military."
